Company History

1600~
1616It is said that white pottery stone was discovered by Ri Sanpei in Arita Izumiyama and made porcelain first in Japan.
1689Matasiro Fukagawa ( founder Eizaemon Fukagawa ) started to manufacture pottery in Arita.
1800~
1870By the command of the Ministry of telegraphic communication, the 8th Eizaemon Fukagawa succeeded in manufacture of the insulator for telegraphic communication first in Japan.
1875Established the organization of "Koransha" by the 8th Eizaemon Fukagawa and some companion.
1876Won the certificate of merit in the Philadelphia exposition.
1877Presented "Chapter of honor" by Sir Toshimiti Ookubo. Exhibited a low-pressure insulator made of porcelain in the first time domestic encouragement of industry exposition. and acquired the "Certificate of merit".
1878Won the gold prize in Paris Exposition.
1879The 8th Eizaemon Fukagawa established Koran unlimited partnership. The capital was 25,000 yen.
1888Won the gold medal in the Barcelona exposition.
1889The 9th Eizaemon Fukagawa assumed the position of the president.
1896Appointed to supply pottery by the Imperial Household Ministry. Held the pottery show in the Keiunzi temple. This is the start of present Arita porcelain festival.
1900~
1900Won the gold prize in Paris Exposition.
1908Constructed the "Touraku style" large kiln by the instruction of the Ministry of Agriculture and commerce.
1909Won the grand prize in the Alaska Yukon Pacific Ocean exposition.
1910Won the grand prize in the Japanese-English exposition.
1913Manufactured a hard and high-pressure insulator, and delivered to Tokyo Shibaura Engineering Works etc.
1914The capital was increased to 50,000 yen.
1915Won the grand prize in the Panama Pacific Ocean exposition.
1918The capital was increased to 200,000 yen.
1928Produced ten-inch suspensible insulator, and delivered to the Tokyo railway bureau.
1930Won the Grand prix in the Liege exposition.
1935The 10th Eizaemon Fukagawa assumed the position of the president.
1937Completed the sulfuretted iron removal equipment by the method of dressing up the floatag. Delivered the industrial research bounty by the commerce and industry ministry.
1941Established the Koran insulator sales Ltd. (capital 180,000 yen) and Koransha pottery sales Ltd. (capital 180,000 yen).
1949The capital was increased to 3,000,000 yen in March. The capital was increased to 6,000,000 yen in June. The Emperor Showa visited to Koransha.
1952Became the insulator factory JIS(Japan Industrial Standards) display permission factory.
1958The capital was increased to 9,000,000 yen.
1959Constructed the crude petroleum tunnel kiln for the insulator burning.
1960Moritake Fukagawa assumed the position of the president of the Koran unlimited partnership and the Koran insulator sales Ltd.
1961The Emperor and Empress Showa visited to Koransha. Executed a great equipment modernization of the insulator factory and restarted real insulator export until 1962.
1967Established newly the Koransha Gifu factory.
1969The Crown Prince (now Emperor) visited to Koransha.
1970Changed the organization Koran unlimited partnership to Koransha Co., Ltd. The capital was 22,000,000 yen. The president was Moritake Fukagawa. Constructed the new ceramic factory in the insulator factoryaccording to the development of an electronic industry. Started the production of the steatite porcelains.
1972Developed the high purity alumina porcelain ( Gemran-purity 99.95%).
1976Developed alumina porcelain protection tube for continuous measuring in blast furnace of steel. Selected to "Ten new product prize for 1976 year" by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.
1977The capital was increased to 44,000,000 yen.
1978Tadashi Fukagawa assumed the position of the president of Koransha Co., Ltd. Moritake Fukagawa assumed the position of the chairman of Koransha Co., Ltd. Developed the low thermal expansion ceramics (Ul-ceram).
1979Celebrated 100 anniversary Koransha.
1985Succeeded in the normal pressure sintering BN.
1988Shinichi Fukagawa assumed the position of the president of Koransha Co., Ltd.
1989Celebrated 300th anniversary from establishment. Established newly the art porcelain factory in Akasaka.
1990Established newly Koransha Akaemachi-atelier.
1991Changed the Koran insulator sales Ltd. to Koransha Corporation Ltd.
1996Held the world flame exposition in Arita. Exhibited the electronic mechanism doll made of porcelain in the Arita district hall.
1999Entrusted to the regional consortium research and development system from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry by "Development of the energy conservation type processing technology of high purity and a transparent fused silica".
2000~
2000Won the technological industrial Kyushu central prize by "High purity h-BN complex material by the normal pressure sintering and the practical use".
2001Won the director general of Patent Office prize from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
2004The capital was increased to 98,000,000 yen in February. Celebrated the 125th anniversary of Koransha establishment on July 10th.
2006Shinichi Fukagawa assumed the position of the chairman of Koransha Co., Ltd. Noriyuki Fukagawa assumed the position of the president of Koransha Co., Ltd.
2007Amalgamated Koransha Co., Ltd. and five related companies (Koransha Corporation Ltd., Koransha pottery sales Ltd., Koransha Tougei Ltd., Koransha Akaemachi-atelier Ltd. and Koran building Ltd.) in January.
2008Opened renewedly the Arita showroom in August after a great repair.
2009Celebrated the 130th anniversary of Koransha establishment on July.
2010Completed the Koransha Bldg. in Tokyo Ginza, and opened newly the Ginza showroom on March.
2013Noriyuki Fukagawa assumed the position of the chairman of Koransha Co., Ltd. Yuji Fukagawa assumed the position of the president of Koransha Co., Ltd.
